The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson, has specially thanked two foreign nurses at the National Health Service (NHS), for taking care of him while he was at the hospital.

He spoke after being discharged from the hospital on Sunday, adding that he lacked words to express his gratitude to the NHS for saving his life.

“I want to thank many nurses, men and women whose care has been so astonishing; I’m gonna forget some names so please forgive me,” he said, emotionally.

Recall that the prime minister was admitted at the St Thomas’s Hospital in Central London on April 5, after his health worsened due to the Coronavirus infection, but was discharged on Sunday to be closely monitored at home.

“I hope they wouldn’t mind if I mentioned in particular two nurses who stood by my bedside for forty eight hours when things could have gone either way – they are Jenny from New Zealand and Louis from Portugal, near Porto.

“And the reason in the end my body did start to get oxygen was because for every second of the night, they were watching, they were thinking and they were caring in making the interventions I needed,” Boris Johnson said.

Johnson also said that like the duo, numerous health workers in the country have gone the extra mile to save lives amidst the Coronavirus pandemic.

“So that is how I also know that across this counrty, 24 hours a day, for every second of every hour, there are hundred o thousands of NHS staff who are acting with the same care, thought and precision as Jenny and Louis.

“I want to pay my own thanks to the absolute brilliant doctors, leaders in their fields, men and women and several of them for some reasons called Nick, who took some crucial decisions a few days ago which I would be grateful for the rest of my life,” he added.

Furthermore, he urged the citizens to remain resilient and cooperative as they ward off the Coronavirus pandemic from the country.

“We will win because our NHS is the beating heart of this country, it is the best of this country; it is unconquerable, it is powered by love.

“Thank you from me, from all of us, to the NHS,” he said.
