Protests In Calabar As NSCDC Personnel Kills Man, Injure Three Others (Graphics Photos)

A man has been killed by a civil defence officer, and injuring three others in Bakassi, Cross River State, Brainnews report.
In the early hours of Friday, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence (NSCDC) personnel shot three persons, one died as the other two sustained injuries.
The action prompted protests in Egta Agbor, Mary Slessor, UNICAL environs, etc.
The deceased Archibong Effiong-Archibong is popularly known as Papa, works with the power Holding Company (PHC) in Bakassi.
Effiong-Archibong was shot death by NSCDC personnel while they were trying to struggle over a gallon of fuel.
The civil defence officer was heard saying that “it was a stray bullet, and claimed that it was not intentional.”
The officer took off for his safety immediately he noticed that one of the three persons he shot was dead.
According to a blogger, Albert Okon while reacting to the incident said; “What really pains the youth in the area is that the deceased is the only one that usually help the community to rectify any fault in their transformer at any time his help is needed.”
Angry youths later match to the Civil defence Bakassi base and burn down their Vehicle, but in an attempt to approach their building, the Nigeria Military intervene by firing warning bullets.
The deceased corpse was taken to his family house before it was handed over to the Nigerian army, where it is expected that the army would then transfer it to the Civil Defence Headquarters In Calabar for proper investigation.
Papa is survived by three kids (two girls and a one boy).
Bakassi youths has vowed never to allow any Civil Defence officer operate in Bakassi till further notice.
