The Lagos State Police Command has said it is investigating the circumstances that led to the murder of a suspected sex worker, Vivian Bello.
It was gathered that the police were working on the premise that the deceased had a male visitor in her room at Kings Hotel, a brothel along the Ijora-Badia railway line, Lagos.
Bello was found dead in the toilet of her room on April 13, 2018, while her supposed male visitor was nowhere to be found.
Bello was reportedly found with bruises all over her body; the police said the bruises suggested that she died a violent death.
When PUNCH Metro visited the brothel on Thursday for an update, the Manager, Niyi Owowa, avoided speaking to our correspondent and disappeared.
A supervisor, who declined to give his name, also refused to speak to our correspondent.
He said, “I will not say anything without the authorisation of our director, who is presently not around.”
However, a resident of the area, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the lady, who was a popular sex worker in the area, was easy-going, adding that her death came as a shock to everyone.
The Lagos State, Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chike Oti, said investigation was ongoing.
He said, “The manager of the hotel reported at the police station that one Vivian Bello, who was in a room in the hotel, was found dead in the toilet and there were marks of violence on her body.
“It is a case of suspected murder and investigation is ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.”
