Police Confirm Abduction Of Anambra Lawmaker

According to reports, police has confirmed the abduction of Anambra State lawmaker.

The police in Anambra State have confirmed the kidnapping of Mr Okechukwu Okoye, a lawmaker representing Aguata Constituency 1 in the state House of Assembly.

Okoye, an indigene of Isuofia, the same community with Governor Charles Soludo, was kidnapped in Aguata on Sunday night.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, who confirmed the kidnap said the lawmaker’s black Sienna bus, which he was driving before the incident, had been recovered.

Ikenga said the command had launched a manhunt for the kidnappers with the aim of rescuing him.

A member of the state House of Assembly, and Chief whip of the house, Hon Pete Ibida, said the kidnap of Okechukwu had not been confirmed by the House.

“I only read of it in the news the same way that you did. We have not discussed it at the House of Assembly level,” he said.
