The federal government of Nigeria has revealed that it has began cash disbursement to 500,000 N-Power beneficiaries.

The federal government has said over 500,000 N-Power beneficiaries would begin to receive outstanding payment of their monthly stipends from today, Tuesday.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq, disclosed this on Tuesday.

Speaking through her Special Assistant on Media, Salisu Dambatta, Farouq said all the necessary procedures required for the payment of the beneficiaries’ entitlements had been fulfilled.

“Those responsible for processing the payment must do it in conformity with the necessary rules and regulations to ensure accountability.

“Now that the rules were followed strictly and the process concluded, I was given the assurance that they will start receiving credit alerts from their banks today, Tuesday, April 14, 2020,” Farouq said.

She added that the President Muhammadu Buhari administration remained committed to overhauling the National Social Investment Programmes (NSIPs) including the N-Power, for transparency, effectiveness, accountability and judicious application of public resources.

“The ministry will along with relevant partners drive the overhauling process to ensure that the expected benefits of the NSIPs are realised in full,” said Farouq.
