Electricity Outage Hits Cross River State For Days

In Cross River State, economic, social and political activities are taking a serious hit following the lack of electricity supply to the state.

According to findings by Brainnews reveal that artisans who make use of electricity, such as welder, sachet water sellers, fridge repairers, business centres, tailors, hair dressers, etc are losing businesses on a daily basis.

Since last Saturday, in Cross River State, it was observed, has been out of electricity supply and sources from Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHED) disclosed that this was because the Transmission Company of Nigeria, (TCN) transmission line developed fault.

Confirming the non supply of electricity, the Manager, Corporate Communications (PHED), John Onyi regretted the power outage.

“A faulty breaker belonging to Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, located inside Transmission Station, Ikot –Ekpene has caused power outage early this morning in the entire Calabar, the Cross River state capital.

“The outage has affected the valued customers of Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company, PHED, including members of the public and Government parastatals.

“PHED, is however, impressed by the rapid response adopted by the technical crew from TCN to discover and fix the fault since the incident occurred. PHED, therefore, sincerely solicits the patience of the customers while the fault is being fixed,” Onyi stated.
