EFCC Arrests 23 ‘Yahoo Academy’ Students, Operators In Akwa Ibom

EFCC has announced that its agency have arrested many suspected internet fraudsters, popularly known as Yahoo boys.

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested 23 suspected internet fraudsters who are operators and students of ‘yahoo academy’ in Akwa Ibom State.

The arrests was made by its Uyo zonal office in a joint operation with some of the Commission’s operatives from Abuja, in the early hours of Thursday, November 28, 2019, EFCC said in a statement.

The anti-graft agency said the operatives stormed a building described as ‘YAHOO ACADEMY’ allegedly used solely for the training of youngsters in various aspects of cyber criminality.

During the raid on Essien Essien Street, Ikot Ibiok village in Eket Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, 23 suspects including operators and trainees were arrested.

EFCC said the suspects will be prosecuted.
