Comedian Blast Akwa Ibom Residents For Blaming Gov. Udom’s Govt Over Floods
A comedian in Akwa Ibom has cautioned Akwa Ibomites against blaming Governor Udom Emmanuel for the devastation caused by floods in Akwa Ibom State.
Sirjames Essien who said he is living in a flood prone area of the State, narrated how flood destroyed a nearby hotel and his landlord’s buildings.
As reported by firstreportsonline.com, he disclosed that the floods were caused by residents who erect structures on drainage path, thereby blocking water flow.
Essien noted that he is happy to live in his area ravaged by floods, adding that others who are facing floods, or may face floods in the near future should not abuse the government.
“I live at the extreme of URUA UDOFIA, the area is called RAVINE ESTATE. Behind my apartment is where all the flood in Uyo converge.
“It takes over 2hours after every major downpour before I can drive out due to waterlog.
“When am talking about FLOOD, I mean the type of flood so strong to the extent i woke up one morning to discover KENNIS Hotel was swallowed & my Landlord’s hotel, PAGUS Hotel was hanging ‘Danger Site’ on every wall.
“As we speak, WORLD BANK came to inspect the drainage site, used drones to form survey just to give other tenants (excluding me) hope [that] the project will be done & since they left, they haven’t returned & as I see, they may not even return again.
“Ladies & Gentlemen, THERE IS FLOOD EVERYWHERE & am glad to say, I LIVE WITH FLOOD & EROSION.
“Most of us stubbornly built houses on drainage path thereby distorting landmarks just so we can be called HOUSE OWNERS forgetting rainy season fears no one.
“Now listen, when you are visited [by flood], remain quiet, stay inside & face it & don’t come to FB [Facebook] & insult the government & Commissioner For Works ke afo Udogho Idaad [because you are not insaned],” Essien said.
