Cross River State amnesty program of governor Ben Ayade for the militant in Bakassi is yielding dividends as some repentant militants are currently surrendering their arms to the government.

The former militants and cultists are being documented by soldiers after laying down their weapons and renouncing militancy at Bakassi beach ikang.

The governor had earlier called on militants and holders of small arms in Cross River State to voluntarily surrender them to government. He said his administration was determined to offer them a viable alternative means of livelihood once they embrace the offer.

Ayade admonished the people to maintain the prevailing peace in the state, advising them to seize the opportunity the disarmament project offers.
