Anger As Another Black Man Dies After Police Gun Shots In United States
United States has recorded another brutal killing of a black man by the police following the death of George Floyd.
The United States was again rattled as angry mobs set fire on the area (Wendy) where Black American, Rayshard Brooks (27), was shot by an Atlanta Police Officer on Friday, leading to his death.
This is coming days after the death of George Floyd, by a U.S. official.
Video footages had surfaced on Saturday night, showing Police officers pursuing a black man and shooting him afterwards.
According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Brooks was shot in a parking lot after he had some disagreement with officers and ran away with one of their stun guns.
“At that point the Atlanta officer reaches down and retrieves his weapon from his holster, discharges it, strikes Mr. Brooks there on the parking lot and he goes down,” Reynolds, the GBI director said in a press briefing.
CNN reports that protestors block University Avenue near the Wendy’s restaurant in Atlanta on Saturday, June 13, 2020, where Rayshard Brooks, a 27-year-old black man, was shot and killed by Atlanta police Friday evening during a struggle in the restaurant’s parking lot.
Meanwhile, Atlanta police spokesman Carlos Campos, told CNN, that the indicted officer has been sacked while the second officer has been sent on administrative duty.
Widespread criticisms online have followed the development, as many were calling for police reforms, among others.
