AFCON: Gernot Rohr Makes Changes To Super Eagles Squared

Gernot Rohr has revealed that so many things have changed from the 2019 AFCON preparation program he submitted to the Nigeria Football Federation due to Confederation of Africa Football’s decision to strip Cameroon off the hosting right.

Nigeria qualified for the tournament for the first time in three editions after playing out a 1-1 draw with South Africa in Johannesburg back in November.

According to Goalball.com.ng, CAF has already decided to seek a new host nation for the 24 team tournament which slated for June/July 2019, although bid from Egypt and South Africa was confirmed over the weekend.

The Super Eagles coach, Rohr has disclosed that his program for the tournament has been affected by the decision, as he has to wait for the African football governing body to announce the new host to determine where the Super Eagles will be camping.

“Our program has been submitted as I told you. Waiting also for the CAF decision about the host country of the African Cup of Nations.”

The Franco-German Coach confirmed that program for the tournament has been submitted since the qualifications for the tournament was confirmed in November.

“I have already submitted the match reports for the Eagles’ last two matches against South Africa and Uganda. They are very important going forward in Eagles preparation for next year’s AFCON”, the former Gabon gaffer added.
